Management Asbestos Survey

A management survey is the standard survey for the day-to-day management of an occupied site. Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspected asbestos-containing materials in the building, which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition. This survey will usually involve sampling and analysis undertaken by our partner UKAS accredited laboratory and any results, together with appropriate recommendations, will then be included in a survey report.

Refurbishment & Demolition Survey

A Refurbishment and Demolition Asbestos Survey is required before any major refurbishment works are conducted on any commercial premises built before 2000. If only part of a building is being refurbished, then only that part of the building needs to be surveyed for the purpose of the project, as long as an asbestos register already exists for other parts of the building. The aim of the refurbishment survey is to safeguard contractors carrying out the work, as they need to know where asbestos might be present. This type of survey can be destructive/invasive, although at ML1 Services Ltd our surveying team uses the latest technology, including endoscopes, where damage to the fabric of the building can be kept to an absolute minimum.

A pre-demolition survey is required when a building, or part of it, is to be demolished. It is preferable to conduct this survey when the building is vacant, as the survey can be intrusive and involve damage to surfaces. It is also necessary to take samples of all materials suspected of containing asbestos. ML1 Services Ltd work with demolition contractors to determine the extent of the demolition programme and agree on a work programme specific to the building in question.
